As part of the Sangam's 44th Annual General Meeting, we will be hosting virtual music concerts from multiple tamil music groups from different parts of Ilankai. The COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed sufferings all over the world and the artists and musicians in Ilankai are no exception to this. Rolling lockdowns and restrictions on gatherings have taken away their ability to perform. The impact is severe on families that depend on the performances as the sole income. The current economic conditions in Sri Lanka, is not helping either. Some of the Tamil music groups in eastern Sri Lanka were suffering even before the Pandemic due to the dwindling Tamil population that impacted the number of available performances. As the pandemic arrived some of them decided to sell their music instruments and resorted to other jobs to support their families.
Sangam is organizing the virtual music concerts to provide a temporary lifeline to these music groups in north and east of Sri Lanka. We also hope that our AGM show will bring awareness on the incredible music talent that exists in Tamil areas in Sri Lanka and provide new opportunities to these groups and encourage them to continue their passion. We seek your financial support to sponsor these virtual music concerts and ask you to donate generously toward this initiative. Please follow the link below to contribute:
